Constitutional Day – 26.11.2016

As per the circular ( Acad 45-20-2016) received from CBSE. Our school J.S.S International school   celebrated the constitutional day on 26th November, 2016 as a mark of respect to our living document.

Our school organized poster making competition among the secondary grades students as a part of Internal Assessment regarding the ideas enshrined in the preamble.

One could see and feel the enthusiasm that the students had in the presentation of the preamble in different styles in different classes. Children participated earnestly with their amazing creativity. Their efforts and initiatives were appreciated.

In addition to the day a special assembly was conducted regarding the Constitution Day. Posters were displayed to motivate the other students of the school.

The assembly began with the school prayer followed by a thought on freedom, speech (Why we celebrate the constitution Day), Mass reading of preamble, and fundamental duties. The ideals enshrined in the preamble was defined by students. The Celebration ended with the National Anthem.

“Constitution day is the time to recall the famous “ Vande Mathram”, the chant that gave us the freedom. May the Indian Sprit prosper forever.

An Inter school debate competition was held on 24th November 2016 at JSS Public School, J P Nagar, Mysore. The topic for the debate was ‘Mass Media is misleading youngsters.

Twenty one schools in and around Mysore and Bangalore had participated in this competition. The JSS International School, Ooty was one among those twenty one schools.

Aditi E of Class X and Nanditha K of Class VIII had represented the school in the competition. Aditi had spoken for the motion and Nandita against the motion.

Nandita K was placed first amongst the twenty – one participants who spoke against the motion. She was awarded with a memento and a cash prize of rupees two thousand (Rs. 2000). It was indeed a proud moment for the winner as well as the institution.


Wednesday, November 30th, 2016

The Inter – House Dramatics competition was held on 25th November 2016 in the School Auditorium.

All the four houses Agni, Jala, Prithvi and Vayu had participated in this competition. Prithvi House had staged ‘Mother’s Day’, Agni House ‘ Drop dead Juliet’, Jala House ‘ The Pie and the Tart’ and Vayu House ‘ The King and the Beggar’.

All these plays that were staged had a wonderful theme and comical elements in them, which was a real treat to the spectators.

The Judges for the competition were Mrs. Deepa from Breeks Memorial School and Mr. Rajesh Kumar from Woodside School, Ooty.

The Judges appreciated the actor and actresses for their performance and guided them with a few helpful tips to perform better.

The best play award was bagged by Jala House for the play ‘ The Pie and the Tart’.

The play ‘Drop Dead Juliet’ by Agni House was placed second.

‘Mother’s Day’ by Prithvi was placed third followed by ‘ The King and the Beggar’ by Vayu House.

The individual prizes are as follows.

Inter School Debate Competition – 19.11.2016

The Nilgiri Library  Ootacamund conducted the Inter School debate competition on 19th November 2016. Two students of each from seventeen schools participated in the competition.  J. Dharshini of class XI Science, JSS International School won the Second prize for the Individual category, out of 34 participants. The participants were awarded certificates and one year free membership for the entire family in the Nilgiri Library.

CHILDREN’S DAY 14.11.2016

‘Children’s Day’ was celebrated on 14th November 2016 at JSS International School, Ooty.

A wonderful morning it was, as the Principal, along with the teachers conducted the assembly. The students were overjoyed to see their teachers conducting the assembly.

There was a variety entertainment programme in which the teachers entertained the students through songs, dance and drama. The air was filled with fun and laughter which gave immense pleasure to both teachers and children.

Following the variety entertainment was fun and games. Students from I – XII took part in this activity which was energetically organized by the teachers of the physical education department.

A sumptuous lunch was served along with chocolate and ice – cream, which really fulfilled the Children’s desires and marked the end of the day’s celebration

Pasteur Institute of India Coonoor conducted a drawing competition on 3rd November 2016.

Monday, November 7th, 2016

In Commemoration of world Rabies Day, paster Institute of India, Coonoor conducted a drawing competition for elementary school ( 6 to 8 ) students on 3rd November 2016. Many school from Nilgiri participated in this competition. Only 2 students from school was permitted. The topic for the competition was Hygiene and disease prevention.

Spoorthi S P from JSS International School won second place. Cash prize, momento and certificate was given drawing the prize distribution ceremony held on 05.11.2016 at St. Mary’s Girls Higher Secondary School, Coonoor.

Drawing Competition Conducted by Kairali , Aruvankadu on 15.10.2016

Monday, November 7th, 2016

The “Kairali” group Aruvankadu had conducted a district level drawing competition in which around 1200 students from different schools has participated. The students were devided in six (6) groups according to their classes.

Five best drawing from each group have been selected and unawarded with prizes. Two students from JSS International School have been awarded with prizes, subash K of class VIII in the group V and Huwaiz Ahmed of class XI in the group VI.


Friday, November 4th, 2016

The JSS International School, Ooty has organized a study tour to Hyderabad for students classes 5 – 8, from 27th October to 1st Nov 2016.

Forty six students were escorted by Mr. Gpinath, Mr Vivek, Mrs Rajalakshmi, Mrs Brinda four teachers and the Academic Coordinator Mr Viswanath.

The places visited during the tour were the snow world, Birla Mandir, Golconda Fort, Chowmahal Palace, Chairminar, Lumini Part, Hussain Sagar Lake, Masjid, Wonderla and Ramji film city.

The tour was a successful one as all the students had a wonderful experience getting to know about the tradition and cultures of Hyderabad.

The tour was indeed a memorable one for both the students as well as the staff members.


Tuesday, October 25th, 2016

A Hindi workshop was conducted by the “ Madhuban Education” on Friday ( 21.10.2016) from 09.30 AM to 04.00 PM at Preethi Palace, ooty.

Mr Ahmed member of the CBSE board and member of the subject experts team were the resource persons.

Around 55 Hindi teachers attended the workshop from different schools. Different topics were taught by the experts.

  1. Orthography phonology
  2. Word – construction
  3. Sentence
  4. Parts of speech

Mr Ahmed explained various innovative methods on how to teach grammar in a very simple and understanding manner.


Saturday, October 22nd, 2016

An Art Competition was conducted by the ICICI Bank on 22nd October 2016 at JSS International School, Ooty. Mr. Senthilraj, AGM Institutional Business, Mr. Karthikeyan J, Manager – Institutional Business, Mr. Cavin, Manager – Global Private clients and Mr. Rajkamal, Dy.Manager – Operation Ooty Branch were the coordinators of the competition.

The purpose of the competition was to promote ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA)’, the national campaign which was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi , amongst the students.

About hundred and eighty ( 180) students from classes I to XII actively participated in the competition. The coordinators expressed their sincere gratitude to the Principal Mr. K S Ravi and the art teacher Mrs. Ramya Binoy for their support and cooperation.
