ANNUAL PRIZE DAY AT JSSIS-OOTY

The 23rd annual prize day for the academic year 2013-14 was held on Saturday the  29th of March 2014 at 3.00 p m in the School auditorium. The chief guest for the afternoon’s show was Dr.O>P>S>KHOLA, Principal Scientist & Head, Central Soil & Conservation Research & Training Institute  Research Centre, Udhagamandalam (ICAR. Ministry of Agriculture-Govt.of India).

A guard of honour was presented to our distinguished chief guest, and the School choir welcomed him with the invocation song.

Master. Pranav Kumar N of class XI presented the welcome address and introduced the chief guest to the audience.

Our Principal Mr. Rennie J Mendonce, then presented the School annual report. This was followed by our Vice-principal, Mr. K.S.Ravi presenting the activities report for the academic year 2013-14.

In his address to the audience, Dr.O.P.S. Khola, highlighted and applauded the service to JSSIS- Ooty in its field of Education to its Students. He recalled how his elder son who was a student of JSSIS-Ooty had excelled in academics and which had paved a way for him to now be perusing his pilot training course. He also said he was happy that his younger son is a student of this great Institution.

Mrs. Khola then did the honour in giving away the awards to the winner of various classes.

Post tea saw the audience in a joyful mode in the Students of JSSIS-Ooty presenting a variety entertainment programme, which came to an end at 7.00 p m with Ms. Madu Krishna C G of class XI proposing a vote of thanks.

PT AND PYRAMIDS 2013-14 AT JSSIS

The annual PT & Pyramids for the academic year 2013-14 was held at the School main field on Saturday the 1st of March 2014. The judges for the show were three eminent Physical Directors from various Schools and Colleges.

The show began at 3.00 p m where all four houses were assembled, donned in their house colours, for the opening event which was the marching drill and their formations. The marching drill and formations comprised of all houses making formations of the various currency symbols of eight Nations, which included the US dollar, Pound sterling and the dutch Guilder.

The winners amongst the best contingent in the marching drill and the formation were Jala House as the winners and the runner up was Vayu house.

This was then followed by the Pyramids by the four houses. After a wonderful  display of pyramids by the four houses, Phrthvi and Agni were declared joint winners and Vayu house, the runner-up.

This was then followed by the PT drills by the tiny little tots of JSSIS, comprising Students of classes I to IV.

What followed next was the spectacular display of PT drills by the senior and middle school students, decked in colourful consumes and properties, which enthralled the show.

After an enlightening and colourful display of   events, the overall champions of the PT & Pyramids 2013-14, was Vayu House . A tie for the second place saw Prithvi and Agni house is second place, and followed in the rear by Jala House.

The evening came to an end with the Principal proposing a vote of thanks, distribution of prizes  and the students singing the National anthem.

JSSIS-UNDER 13 CRICKETERS EMERGE VICTORIUS

The defending champions JSSIS-Ooty, under 13 cricketers have retained their title, having emerged winners in the Nilgir District Cricket tournament meant for the under 13 category. They defeated Lawerane School, Lovedale at the Laid Law Memorial School and Junior college ground.

INTER HOUSE JUNIOR QUIZ COMPETITION AT JSSIS-OOTY

Exuberating, motivating, enlightening and engaging would describe the Inter House Junior Quiz competition held on 25th February 2014  for the Students of Classes V to VII.  The competition was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base among the Students through  healthy and highly motivating meet.  The Students crammed themselves up with a lot of general knowledge for the quiz.

The contest started by stating the rules and regulations to all the participants.

Mr. Rennie J Mendonce our Principal, bombarded the Students with questions, as he conducted the Rapid fire round and Who am I ? Ms.Arthy Singh looked cheerful conducting the quiz for the little ones. Mazes of intuited and interesting questions were asked to t he Students, testing each aspect of the educational knowledge base like current affairs, science and technology, History and Georgraphy, Sports and Business, English Literature, Flora, Fauna and Festivals.

The quiz had a visual round showing world achievements clippings which made it more exciting for the Students and the audience both.During the Human body and From the Nilgiris round all the teams showed an amazing performance and a great spirit as they got most of the answers correct.

There was a healthy competition amongst all the four Houses.  The fervent participants at the competition were Arjun Singh, Mahitha, Sambhavi and Diya representing Agni House, Janani, Joshua, Jainum and Shivashakthi representing Jala House, Kushboo, Harshitha. Anirudh and Reishivardhan representing Prithvi House, Darshan, Helix Fay and Nikhil representing Vayu House.

Each team put up a whole hearted effort , but Agni Houseaced the first prize, Vayu and Prithvi stood second followed by Jal House.

The ICT team comprising Ms. Hema and Ms. Sumathy assisted the computers.  Mr.Vicek, Ms.Sheeba and Mr.Ravikumar, assisted with scoring and time keeping.

Surendhar of class VIII, slammed an unbeaten 105, in the under 13 Inter School cricket tournament beating Hebron School Ooty, by 123 runs. He was also adjudged the Man of the Match.

JSSIS-OOTY GIRL BAGS TOP HONOURS IN PAINTING COMPETITION

A painting competition  was held for School Students conducted by the “THE HINDU” termed ‘YOUNG WORLD PAINTING CONTEST” at Coimbatore  on 22nd of February 2014.  A total of 285 Students from various parts of the District had participated.

Megha Arun of Class VIII representing JSSIS-Ooty had emerged victorious, with her theme “A TRIP TO THE VILLAGE”, and bagging the FIRST PRIZE, in the Senior category.

STUDENTS OF JSSIS-OOTY BRINGS LAURELS

A competition comprising various events such as, Painting,Essay writing, Science Model, and Quiz was conducted for School children on the 20th of February at The Radio Astronomy Centre, Ooty.

Students’, of JSSIS-Ooty had participated in the events and some have emerged victorious, as detailed here under.

  • Megha Arun of Class VII had bagged the first prize in the Drawing competition.
  • Shashank L of Class VIII  and Adithvaas A also of class VIII had bagged the third prize  in the Quiz competition, in the Level II category.
  • Ishojith of Class XI and Harrisvardhan also of class XI had bagged the IInd Prize in the Quiz competition categorized for level III.

State level drawing competition held at Suttur Jathra on 30.01.2014.

As part of suttur Jathra  celebration a state level drawing competition was held at Suttur on 30.01.2014 in which students from various JSS Institutions participated. The competition was held for four categories. Number of students participated from JSSIS, ooty in different categories are as follows.

Out of the above Megha Arun of class 8 won the first prize in the category 4. She was awarded cash prize of Rs. 2500 /- with memento and certificate. All the other participants received participation certificate.

THE UNDER 14 HOCKEY GIRLS EMERGE WINNERS

The under 14 Hockey Girls of JSSIS-Ooty emerge winners in the Inter School Hockey tournament. Among  the Association of the  English Speaking Schools in the Nilgiris, which had gained entry into the tournament, the finalist were JSSIS-Ooty and Hebron School-Ooty.

After an enlightening session of play off at the final at Hebron School-Ooty, JSSIS carried home the trophy having beaten the host School Hebron -Ooty, with 1 goal to nil.

Binny Tenani of class IX was awarded the best player of the tournament.

THE UNDER 16 CRICKETERS BRINGS LAURELS TO THE SCHOOL

THE UNDER 16 CRICKETERS BRINGS LAURELS TO THE SCHOOL.

The under 16 cricketers of JSSIS-Ooty, bring laurels to themselves and to the School, having emerged winners in the AZHAR HASSAN MEMORIAL ROLLING 2013-14. The play off at the final against Lawerance School-Lovedale at The Laid Law School and Junior college, had resulted in JSSIS-Ooty emerge victorious, and carried home the AZHAR HASSAN MEMORIAL TROPHY.

The Nilgri District Cricket Association had conferred the following awards to the players as detailed hereunder, for their excellence.

The best bowler award was awarded to Master. Sankruth Sriram of class IX

The best all rounder award was bagged by Master. Md.A Rafeez of class XI.

These two players have been nominated by the NDCA to receive special awards at the Annual Prize distribution day to be held later.
