The District level of the Inspire Award Science Exhibition 2016-2017 was held on the 23rd of July 2016 at the Breeks Memorial School, Ooty. 210 Schools from the Nilgiri District had participated. A.Adithvaas of class XI science of JSS International School, Ooty displayed a model on the topic Home Automation. The model was judged by three different level of judges. Our model won the second prize and was selected for the State Level Competition.

The Investiture Ceremony for the year 2016 – 2017 was held on 3rd August 2016. The student council was officially vested with their position and power.
Dr. S P Dhanpal, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy was the Chief Guest and Sri. Sivaiah, Accounts officer Audit Department, JSSMVP, Mysuru was the guest of Honour for the occasion.
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. Keeping this in mind Srivatsa D was chosen as the Head boy of JSSIS and Nikhil Patel was chosen as the Assistant Head Boy. Pradeep Patel was chosen as the sports captain.
The Ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Our Principal Incharge Mr. K S Ravi introduced the Chief Guest and welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries honoured the student council with their badges. The School Captain D Srivatsa addressed the gathering with his motivational speech.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering with his wonderful speech on leadership and the honour of being leader. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour congratulated the entire student council and wished them good luck for their forthcoming endeavours.
Mr. Gopinath, Physical Director was the co-ordinator for the ceremony. The School Vice Captain Nikhil S Patel proposed the vote of thanks. The function ended with the National Anthem.
Birth Centenary Celebration of His Hiliness Jagadguru Dr. Sri.Sri.Rajendra Mahaswamiji – Tree plantation by District CollectorMonday, August 8th, 2016
In connection with the Birth Centenary Celebration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri.Sri. Rajendra Mahaswamiji, we had a function at JSS International School, Ooty on 30th July 2016.
The District Collector Mr. Shankar IAS was the Chief Guest along with the Forest officer Mr. R Suresh Kumar . We had Pooja at 10.30 am in the office followed by planting of tree saplings, near gate Area.
Our Deputy Director Mr. Girish Baga and few parents joined in this function. It was a great and memorable function in the year 2016.
Nearly 250 saplings were planted in different places in the School campus. Our school students along with students from JSS College of Pharmacy involved in this event.
Principal, Manager, Academic Co-ordinator and Warden were present and planted the saplings.
A Portrait drawing competition for Dr. Sri Sri Shivarathree Rajendra Swamigalavaru as the subject was conducted in all JSS Institutions by JSS High School, Devalapura for students from 8 to 10 classes as part of the Founders Day Centenary Celebration.
About 35 students from JSS International School, Ooty participated in the above competition. The top 4 entries as adjudged by the school Art teacher have been forwarded to Mysore where all institutions are sending this best entries. The final selection from these entries would be done at Mysore and result will be published in due course. Winners will be given cash awards.
Inter house English elocution for the academic year 2016-17 was conducted on 15th July 2016. The event started at 11.15 am at the school auditorium with the invocation song. Two external judges were invited to judge the competition.

The competition was divided into three levels Juniors, Inters and Seniors. The juniors and Inters recited a poem for 3 to 5 minutes respectively and seniors recited monologues from Shakespeare for 5 to 10 minutes.
In Junior division the winners were Astha of Jala House in first place and Sarvadarshan of Vayu House in Second place. In inter division Sanya from Jala House & Dharni from Prithivi House were placed first and second respectively.
In Senior division Dharshini from Jala house bagged the first place and followed by Sunny Kevin John from Vayu House.
The Chief Guest praised the students for their excellent performance and the teachers who trained them.
Principal in-charge gave away the momentous to the judges and thanked them for spending their valuable time with us.
The event came to the end with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.
Mr. M Rahmath M.A. Philosophy, Principal Consultant, Founder of “Johan Foundation”, a training outfit, was invited as a guest speaker for the school assembly on 11th July 2016. He delivered an effective speech on the importance of staying focused in achieving success. He enlightened the students about the power of concentration.
Mr. M Rahmath explained the different stages of human life, through simple real life stories. He spoke about being in the ‘present’ and performing once duties and responsibility to be a successful person in the future. He made the Children to take a pledge on performing their duties.

The Birth Centenary Celebration of Dr. Rajaguruthilaka, His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, was celebrated with great zeal on 16th July 2016 at JSS College of Pharmacy. JSS College of Pharmacy along with JSS International School had organized this function.
The chief guest for the function was Dr. Basavarajaiah Retd. Principal NIIT, Suratkal, Karnataka.
The president for the function was Sri. HRM. Bhojaraj, Chairman Hittakkal Groups, Kotagiri. The guest of honour were Sri Ganeshmoorthy, Chief Educational Officer, Ooty, Sri B.Rajesh Chander, Co-Chairman, Hittakkal Groups, Kotagiri, Swami Raghaveshananda, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Ooty, Swami Vyasa Prasad, Narayana Gurukulam, Fern Hill ,Ooty, Sri H.H. Ramubabu, Sri Abubabaji Charitable Mission Trust, Ooty, Sri Shivakumaraswamiji, Hittakkal Math, Kotagiri.
The function started at 12.00 p.m with an invocation dance performed by the students of JSS College of Pharmacy. Thereby followed by an invocation song. The welcome address was given by Sri K.S. Ravi, Principal JSS International School, Ooty. The dignitaries were honored by the faculty members. Dr. S.B.Dhanabal, Principal JSS College of Pharmacy, presented a power point presentation in the Centenary Celebration throughout the year. A short documentary film was screened in the life of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Sri Shivarathree Rajendra Mahaswamiji.
Commemorating the importance of the celebration certificates & awards were given to the students those who secured first, second & third ranks from government schools in the Nilgiri District. Also the students who had secured 10 CGPA in the class 10 Board Examination. The students who secured the highest marks in class 12 Board Examination and the students who had secured ranks in D.Pharm, B.Pharm. M.Pharm & Pharm.D disciplines were awarded with prizes & certificates.
As an act of charity the underprivileged and the differently abled children form two orphanage homes and a Deaf & Dum school were provided with stationary kits.
The dignitaries addressed the gathering and all of them had brought into light the kindness of the Mahaswamiji. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Basavanna, Administrative officer incharge.
The function ended with the planting of saplings by the dignitaries in the college campus.
Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 since its inception in 2015. An International Day for Yoga was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on December 11, 2014, unanimously. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN Address suggested the date 21st of June , as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.
As a part of this celebration, Udhagai Manavalakalai Mandram Trust conducted yoga competition for different age groups on 21st June 2016 at Udhagai Temple of Consciousness. Many schools from the Nilgiris participated in this competition and few students have brought laurels to our school. The following students participated in the competition and obtained participation certificate. A. Asmitha, B.Mariyam, A.Shri Hari, J.Sona Sri, K. Kawinya, B.Manoj kumar and Tensing Palden.
N.Pritheeviraj was awarded the first place in the Senior Division.
Siddarth had won the first place in the Junior Division and the best performer award.
K.Thanisha secured Second place in the Sub Junior Girls division.

The Bharat scouts and guides, Karnataka has arranged 3 days workshop for trainees from 5th May to 7th May 2016. The Chairman of function was Mr S.G.R Shindya, Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, former Home Minister, Karnataka. More than 80 participants all over Karnataka attended the programme.
