An Art Competition was conducted by the ICICI Bank on 22nd October 2016 at JSS International School, Ooty. Mr. Senthilraj, AGM Institutional Business, Mr. Karthikeyan J, Manager – Institutional Business, Mr. Cavin, Manager – Global Private clients and Mr. Rajkamal, Dy.Manager – Operation Ooty Branch were the coordinators of the competition.

The purpose of the competition was to promote ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA)’, the national campaign which was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi , amongst the students.

About hundred and eighty ( 180) students from classes I to XII actively participated in the competition. The coordinators expressed their sincere gratitude to the Principal Mr. K S Ravi and the art teacher Mrs. Ramya Binoy for their support and cooperation.

In fond memory of our former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam his birthday 15th October 2016 is celebrated as ‘Student’s Day’ all over the world. The ‘Student’s Day’ was celebrated at JSS International School too.

The Principal Mr. K S Ravi had organized a mass meditation programme in which students of classes I to VIII were involved along with teachers. The Principal enlightened the students with the messages shared by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam on empowering students to make India a developed country.

The importance of the day was observed through silence and meditation.

“Helping people make this world a better place”

Children of classes III,IV,V & VI were taken to “Saghai Matha Home for the aged” on 17.10.2016 (Monday). The Children rendered a whole hearted service by giving them sweets, biscuits, bread, fruits. Children entertained them with dance and songs. As by the saying “Service is our business, Perfection is our goal, satisfaction is our Gaurentee “. The children had a different experience of serving the old people. The sisters of the Saghai Matha Home rang up and thanked the Principal, Staff and students for the wonderful contribution for the Deepavali.

An Art Competition was conducted by the Kairali group Aruvankadu on 15th October 2016 at JSS International School, Ooty.

A hundred and forty students (140) participated in the competition from classes I to XII. The students were divided into four categories according to their age.

The Kairali group felicitated and appreciated the Principal Mr. K S Ravi and the art teacher Mrs. Ramya Binoy for coordinating the programme and making it a successful one. They expressed their gratitude to the students for their enthusiastic participation and cooperation. They were overwhelmed by the talents exhibited by the students.

All the participants were honoured with mementoes. The objective of the competition was to encourage the students to inculcate the habit of giving importance to co-curricular activities.

Parents Teachers meeting held on 7th October 2016 after Inter House Sports at our school Auditorium. Lot of parents attended the meeting and discussed about their wards performance.

The 26th Annual Athletic Meet of JSS International School, Ooty was held on 7th October 2016 at the School Sports field.

The Chief Guest for the Athletic Meet was Col. Mahendra Pal Singh Rawat, 36 (TN), COY, NCC Nilgiris. The Principal Mr. K S Ravi welcomed the gathering and also honoured the Chief Guest.

The event began with the ‘Guard of Honour’ where the Chief Guest along with the Principal and the Academic Coordinator inspected the four houses (Agni, Jala, Prithvi and Vayu) followed by the opening March past by the students of the four houses.

The gathering witnessed the Junior Drill performed by students of classes 1-4. There was a Yoga display by the students of classes 1 – 8. There was also a Karate demonstration by the Karate Students as well as by the Karate Master. A number of track events were conducted in which most of the students had participated .

A special game show was conducted for the parents and guests, winners of the game show were awarded with medals and certificates.

All the students who had secured the first, second and third positions in the respective track as well as field events were awarded with medals and certificates.

The overall championship shield was won by Jala House.

The Chief Guest honourd and appreciated all the winners and participants.

Children of classes III,IV,V & VI were taken to silk farm on 27.09.2016 (Tuesday)                       Mr. Arokiaswamy  in sericulture farm explained the different stages in the life cycle of butterfly. In Sericulture Museum children observed the production and supply of disease free silkworm eggs which forms one of the prime factor for successful sericulture in terms of harvest of good quality cocoons. Children were shown the inherent special traits of different races available in germplasm bark. Different breeds of silkworm, different sizes, shapes and colours of cocoon were observed. Children asked many enthusiastic questions they enjoyed the study trip.

The Oxygen Environment Safety Association of Nilgiris selected J S S International School, Ooty for  “Oxygen Environment Safety (OES) Award” for planting and maintaining more trees in the campus.

The award function was held in the school auditorium on 1st October 2016, Saturday at 11 a.m. The function started with an invocation song by the school choir. The President, Vice – President and a few representative members from the Oxygen Environment Safety Association (OESA) attended the function.

Principal Mr. K S Ravi welcomed the greeting.

Four Students, Maansi of Standard XII, Darshini of Standard XI, Sunny Kevin John of Standard XI and E Aditi of Standard X delivered speeches on Environment safety. They were awarded with certificated and momentos.

The President of OESA, Nilgiris presented the award to the school. It was received by our Vice – Principal.

The President , OESA congratulated the school and spoke about the importance of planting more trees.

20 saplings were provided by the OESA to be planted in the school campus. Planting of saplings was done by the Principal, Academic Co – Ordinator, Manager and the Warden accompanied by the School captain, Vice captain and the captains of various houses.

Vote of thanks was given by Miss. Harshitha of Standard X. The function ended with the National Anthem.
